Welcome to the BHSC Netball James Teams Page

Week 13 Baulkham Hills 41 def St Pauls 25
St Pauls to their credit came out firing. I think they may have played their best 3 quarters of netball in this game. I can not really pin point anything wrong that we did, we just never really made the most of our turn overs, maybe thinking like other weeks, we will just over run them in the end. Only being 1 or 2 up going into the last quarter was not the position I thought we would be in at the start of the game. Just not making the other side pay for their mistakes is something we need to work on. We over ran them by 16 in the end but don’t want to be leaving it til the last quarter this close to finals.

Week 12 Baulkham hills 47 def Glenwood 21
This was going to be tricky week. Coming off the holidays, only 4 at training, a disappointing loss and 2 of our 3 circle defenders away, meant we had to be extra focused on this week’s game. Jade put her hand up to play GD and everyone else was in about their right positions. Defensively we all played well down the court. Mel had her best game for the season and with the constant pressure of Jade in GD and Nic in WD picked up a lot of ball. Constant pressure on the defensive transverse also made options difficult for the Glenwood attack. When there is a turnover is where we need to constantly work at bring the ball down. We do struggle with the change from defence to attack and seem to be quite out of position. And with change from her familiar GS to GA I think Sam may have found herself a new position!
We still need to work on mental toughness as the games in finals netball are only going to get tougher and we need to be able to overcome all adversities.

Week 11 Baulkham Hills lost 35 Impalas 36.
Giving the 2nd place team a lead of 9 after the first quarter makes the rest of the game tough work. (7 v 16) Once again, just not correcting mistakes we make is major issue. Passing into hands once, OK, maybe twice, but to do it 3 or 4 times in a quarter with no real self analysis of what is going wrong, really hurt us. Passes that haven’t worked and we continue to push it instead of taking safe options is an area we need to work on. On saying that, a 9 goal start is only 3 goal catch up each quarter (1 or 2 turnovers that we convert) and we nearly did it. Actually got even, with our centre pass, but odd calls by umpires hurt us in that last quarter, and we went down by 1. Last 3 quarters good effort but I do believe that we need to make the most of our turnovers, and when we convert off their centre we need to MAKE sure of ours to really hurt the other side. Next time girls!

Week 10 Baulkham hills 42 def St Bernadettes 11
The score line doesn’t really show what a disappointing game this was. As we make the final run into the end of the season we need to be able to have 4 good quarters. The 31 goal win was put on in just about 1 quarter, with the other 3 very average. And the third quarter actually saw us get half the goals of the bottom side (3 to their 6) Lets toughen up, keep focused and get ourselves in a strong position to play 4 good quarters of netball.

Week 9- Baulkham Hills 56 def Gazelles 27

Week 8 Rain

Week 7 def BHSC Sierras (team 10) 50 – 23
Playing your own club mates is always a tricky game and with Sierras on the back of 2 very good wins we knew we would have our work cut out for us. With the team starting to settle in to vague positions, I am feeling pretty confident with who I put on, in whatever positions and I know the job will be done. We did have a bit of an interrupted training session on the Wed night and a couple of set plays didn’t quite go as planned but overall a pretty good hit out. Maybe our attempts at taking clean intercepts were marred by slow foot movement. We have to remember if we are going to commit to the intercept we need to get around the player, be in front position and attack the ball.
Special mention to Nicole who apart from having one of her best games for the season also turned a BIG 15. She was on FIRE..well done Nic. Start of the 2nd round and we will need to consolidate our position on the top of the table and lets really improve on last round

Week 6 Baulkham Hills 55 def St Pauls 25
After last week it was great to see everyone back on the same page again. A different line up in the attack with Kaitlyn Lee as WA. Everyone adjusted well and apart from a lot of unforced turnover it was a better effort than last week’s game. Defensively down the court it was very good. Caitlin Knight showed us how much ball can be picked up when there is pressure over the pass from down the court. And our defenders were tight but I think have a good 20% more improvement on their intercepts. With pressure down the court forcing bad passes we need to be able to back ourselves and have a good crack at these bad passes. Attacks may want to forget little passages of play but generally kept their head up and tried hard for 4 quarters. This week’s emphasis will be again on timing and backing ourselves to have a go.

Week 5 Baulkham Hills 37 def Glenwood 20.
Not much really any of us want to rehash. Messy start sort of OK in the middle, messy end.
Move along, nothing to see here.

Week 4: James 44 def Impalas(17) 35
I think in our minds from the start of the season this game was going to be our measuring post. We worked on the physicality of the Impalas players during the week with plenty of defence training. It was a great game to watch, a real wrestle with both teams putting everything on the line. Some magnificent plays from all 3 of our goalies showed that we were not going to be intimidated by rough play. And as usual our last line of defence in the circle was outstanding with Mel and Grace picking up any loose passes and created plenty of turn over. But one word girls- REBOUNDS!!! Enough said. Pressure from down court at times was outstanding and other times still lacking a little. Our centre court copped, at times, some bizarre play and for most of it kept a steady head. What is really satisfying is that I think we can still improve another 10-15 goals next time we meet them. We must not treat that one game as our “final” and keep working and working to really put this team away next time.

Week 3 James 45 def St Bernadettes 10
A very pleasing day indeed. Determined to keep working on our different combinations proved worthwhile. Nicole once again did a great job in WD, a new position for her and our defence, Mel and Grace, worked tirelessly and communication developing well. Well done. Our centre court really stood up to at times very physical play and kept attacking the ball and not retaliating. We will work on some more options with our cuts and drives so we don’t become too predictable. Caiti Lee copped some pretty tough defence but for the first half Sam was solid behind her at GS. Jade came on 2nd half and played her strong steady game as always, and back at GS Cait found her range again. Well done everyone for keeping your heads when it was a pretty rough and tumble game. Week 2 James 38 defeated Gazelles 12
Not sure whether it was the late time start, the wind or was it that we really didn’t warm up well, but our first half was very shaky. Can not doubt anyone’s commitment to the game, but our mistakes and poor choices meant we were only 13-7 at half time. At times there was some very good defending of our opposition players but we didn’t treasure our possession and really let ourselves down. However, the team’s attitude in the 2nd half was fantastic. We really treasured possession and made the most of our turnovers. Defense worked very hard and got some fantastic balls off the tough pressure that was applied down the court. Our attack moved and found some great space in sometimes quite trying conditions. We moved onto the ball, showed great footwork in defense and attack and looked like a team on a winning mission. This showed in the 2nd half scoreline 25-5. I must make mention of Tayla who came on at centre at half time and had an absolute blinder. Defended her centre right out of the game and played a very strong attacking game. Well done.

Week 1 40 defeated Impalas 10
It was always going to be interesting to see how the Cadets from last year mixed with a few new faces. And after 2 centre passes I was pretty sure that we were going to be fine in this game. With such trying conditions and unfamiliar combinations the team really did work very hard. Defensive pressure over the pass gave us some early turn overs and Impalas did not score a goal until the 2nd quarter. Of course the Impala’s coach made some changes and their determination not to give in gave us a good competitive 2nd half. In a game with this sort of score line there are usually some individuals that particularly standout and deserve extra recognition, but I am actually very proud to be able to say that this was one game where the TEAM effort was outstanding and I think every single player did their job and did it well. Well done Baulko .
