Week 7 Loss 19-28 v OLOR
Well girls it was a tough result. We started out so well - 9-4 at 1st Quarter time! OLOR came back at us 15-13 at half time and then I had to leave for my game. I was so shocked to get the message after the game that we went down 28-19, but please hold your heads up high for that first half! We had a fantastic battle against a physical team and I was disappointed to hear the umpiring hadn't gone our way - but you have to let that go. We have to be thankful for the umpires and other officials and volunteers that assist us on Saturdays - or we wouldn't be able to play. Next time we play OLOR it will be the final game before Semis, and we will be walking away with the win.
Beautiful improvements in shooting this week, it is a pity we got rained out on Wednesday for training because we could've continued to work on our lovely goals. We had great patience and drive from all players, let's fine tune our plays and approaches for this second round of comp.
Next week is St Michaels - let's put some more points on that board.
wEEK 6 WON v Gazelles 24-16
Ladies, we had a job to do today and we did it with flair and skill. With the Gazelles tying with us for 4th position, we needed the win to claim 4th spot as our own and we sure did so, however not without a fight.
In the face of tough opponents, we got countless turnovers from our awesome defensive unit of Claire, Maddy, and Carly who got the most unlikely and impossible intercepts and turnovers! What great work!! Our mid court never tired and ensured our turnovers were treated with care, however at times we did think too long down the court and lost our chances - remember there's always a short option or a back option to reset. Excellent pressure all the way down the court and some excellent feeds from Cait and Nikki to our shooters and we will continue to play around with those @ training. Your fitness is amazing girls you should be proud.
Our shooters had plenty of goal opportunities today and it was great to get all 3 - Julia, Alex and Emma - in the circle throughout the game. Julia you had very impressive shooting statistics and great feeds into Alex. Alex hopefully your hand has recovered, you had plenty of ball on the weekend it was fantastic to see you alternating between moving and holding - the statistics will come with time. Emma you injected that sense of calm into the circle int he last half and especially shone in the last quarter with your surprise 'pops' from behind your GK.
Training has paid off for each and everyone of you and we will continue to work towards our finals goal!
The last game of the round is against OLOR - the team in third place. It will once again be tough, but
I have a feeling we can take them down and continue our move up the ladder.
CANNOT even express how happy and proud I am ..!3 wins in a row! Annie :) xx
Week 4 Won 16-13 Model Farms
Whats a fantastic win! You were an entire new team! It is so rewarding to know that you listened and acquired these new skills at our hard training sessions, and now it is rewarding to us all to see them finally pay off! This win has been a long time coming, we truly have been building and I promised you this time would come so thank you for trusting me and persevering.
Outstanding game from all - Nikita you had a blinder in WA you were invovled in everything! Caitlin excellent change between WD and C you are so lethal in those positions. Maddy and Carly you combine so well in WD and GD and its so great to be able to keep switching you guys over because you each bring something unique to each position. Claire, what a game to welcome you back... we missed you in GK - what great skin on skin pressure you sure got into the mind of that GS! Julia you have embraced your new shooting position and you just have to have the same confidence that you do when you wear the C patch! Congratulations to Alex and Emma on your shooting consistency and ability to settle...we needed to convert and you did just that! Remember your options as shooters - you don't have to hold all the time lets see some strong speedy moving shooters!
I couldn't have asked for more girls...excep that you continue our new victorious path this Sat against Glenhaven! I'm sad I can't be there but I cannot wait to hear all about it on Wednes...
321...WAR!

Week 3 v North Rocks - Loss score TBA
We had been training all throughout the holidays and deserved to take this one but things didn't go to plan unfortunately. With our defender and shooter away for the game, we borrowed Kate White (Thanks Kate!) and moved Julia into goal attack. Although this combination worked, it took us the entire game to adjust. There were patches of ease when we moved the ball through our channels well and drove hard, but getting the ball into our shooters was a struggle - you cannot lob the ball over a tall girl! On a positive note, we scored the first 2 goals of the game - we have to learn that our job is not done until the final bell! We worked very hard on our fitness this training session and next week we are going to refine all our plays, hands, holds, and ball positioning.
Chins up girls, the best is yet to come! If you really want this it will happen and I believe it will, you just have to.
Annie :) xx
Round 1 vs St Michaels - LOSS - score tba
The 2010 Bangalows are Julia (c) Alex (vc), Nikita, Emma, Maddy, Carly, Claire and Caitlin. This is a fairly new mix of players but from 4 weeks of training I think we have bonded quite well. There were many positive and beautiful passages of play on Saturday but I think the heat got to us in the end. The defence combinations were on fire (nearly quite literally) and turned over plenty of ball for us, we just have to increase those turnovers with REBOUNDS. Centre court players worked tirelessly and we made quite a few changes to ensure we had fresh legs majority of the time. The movement down the court was very clean and I do believe you actually chased some loose balls! It was fantastic to see everything we have been working on had come together. Shooting has been fiddled with at training and I have complete and utter faith that Alex and Emma (and possibly Julia) will be able to convert for us this Saturday. Just remember to follow in on your shots girls and hold strong. You move so well, just don't over th ink your shooting techniques and remember you can feed the ball out if you don't want to take the long shots.
We are very excited for this season and when we meet St Michaels again it will be a very different result. I'm not there this Saturday because of state league :( but Kim will be there to guide you to victory!
Annie :)
